Our Comprehensive Puppy Training Program

We offer fully trained, non-shedding hypoallergenic standard doodles; occasionally, other breeds are available. Our in-house puppy training program is designed to develop well-behaved, loving family companions.

We work with a select few reputable breeders who understand our program needs. Relying on our trusted partner’s expertise, we handpick the best puppies based on their temperament and disposition, ensuring they are ideal candidates for our training program.

Most of our puppies come from parents who have been genetically tested. However, if a puppy’s parents have not been tested, we conduct the testing ourselves using EMBARK. While parent testing is ideal, it does not guarantee that the puppy will be free from health conditions.

In addition to training our puppies, we accept puppies that are not ours for boarding and training. We offer three levels of puppy training for family-companion dogs, ensuring every pet in our program becomes a cherished member of their new family.

LEVEL 1: Foundational Skills

Developing Focus, Attention, and Obedience

Level 1 Puppy Training is centered on developing your puppy’s focus and attention, which are crucial for advancing obedience training. This stage lays the groundwork for basic obedience training while ensuring your puppy enjoys following commands.

Basic Potty-Crate Training: Puppies between 8-16 weeks need a routine and structured schedule to assimilate potty training effectively. By establishing a consistent potty schedule, puppies can achieve an accident-free environment, reducing the initial stress of puppy ownership. With early training, most puppies should be fully potty trained by 4-5 months.

Walking on a Leash: Through this training, your puppy will learn to accept a leash or harness and walk without jumping or biting the leash, common behaviors in untrained puppies that can persist into adulthood. Depending on their training progress, we may also introduce the “heel” command.

Introduction to Obedience Commands:

  • Come
  • Sit
  • Stay
  • Down
  • Break
  • No
  • Off

Socialization: Your puppy will socialize with other dogs and kids, becoming comfortable with being petted and handled by different people.

Desensitization to noises and touch is crucial for preventing excessive barking and potentially aggressive behaviors in the future. Puppies will be exposed to everyday household noises like vacuum cleaners, blow dryers, blenders, and traffic sounds. This exposure helps them remain calm in various environments and allows them to be touched and handled.

Resource Guarding Correction: Early signs of resource guarding will be addressed and corrected, promoting healthy behavior.

By completing Level 1 puppy training, your puppy will be ready to pass the AKC S.T.A.R. Program Test and often exhibit behaviors necessary for the AKC CGC Test.

This training phase typically takes 2 to 4 weeks, depending on your puppy’s age and progress.

The adoption fee for puppies with Level 1 completed starts at $4,900. Click here to see available puppies.

LEVEL 2: Tackling New Challenges

Skill Building & Reliability

Level 2 Puppy Training builds on the skills learned in Level 1, introducing more challenging exercises to help your puppy listen in more distracting environments. At this stage, training will further develop your puppy’s ability to focus and respond reliably, even amidst increased distractions.

Potty Training Reinforcement: Depending on age, your puppy may be around 95% potty trained by the end of this level, and the puppy will be comfortable inside the crate for a few hours. The puppy will have a potty schedule, making the transition to their new home smoother.

House Manners: Continued emphasis on good behavior inside the home, preventing the puppy from adopting destructive and obnoxious behaviors such as jumping on the furniture, chewing on inappropriate things, etc…

Walk on a Leash: Train your puppy to walk calmly on a leash and improve their leash manners.

Training to establish reliability to the basic commands learned during level 1 plus adding the following  obedience commands:

  • No Bark / Quiet
  • Leave it
  • Heel
  • Inside / Outside
  • Settle
  • Place

Introduction to Door Training: Teach your puppy to stay inside and not run outside when the door opens.

Continuation of Socialization: Your puppy should continue socializing with other dogs and kids to ensure it is comfortable and friendly in different environments.

Increasing Distractions: Exposing your puppy to louder noises, crowds, and different environments to ensure they remain calm and well-behaved. Off-site training sessions are included to acclimate your puppy to various settings.

By the end of Level 2, most puppies meet all the requirements to pass the test for the AKC Good Canine Citizen Certification.

This training phase typically takes 3 to 6 weeks, depending on the puppy’s age and performance in foundational skills.

By the end of level 2, most puppies meet all the requirements to pass the test to obtain the AKC GOOD CANINE CITIZEN CERTIFICATION.

This training will take 3 to 6 weeks, depending on the puppy’s age.

LEVEL 3: Advanced Skills

Perfecting Behaviors and Achieving Certification

By now, your puppy has a solid foundation and has mastered many obedience commands through puppy training. In Level 3 Puppy Training, we focus on polishing behaviors such as gentle play, avoiding jumping on strangers and responding to obedience commands despite distractions. This stage prepares your puppy to take the AKC Canine Good Citizen test, a crucial step toward becoming an emotional support, therapy, or service dog.

Fully Potty Trained: Your puppy will have consistent success with potty training.

Housebroken: The puppy understands and follows house rules.

Proficient in Obedience Commands: Continued reinforcement of all basic commands.

Settling and Remaining on a Mat: Training your puppy to stay calm and settled on a mat for extended periods.

Walking on a Loose Leash: Ensuring your puppy can walk calmly on a loose leash, even past difficult distractions like other people or dogs.

Responding to “Come” Despite Distractions: Training your puppy to reliably respond to the “Come” command, even when distracted by toys, other dogs, or people.

Waiting at a Door: Teaching your puppy to wait patiently at doors, preventing them from rushing out.

Correcting Nipping and Rough Play: Addressing and eliminating any remaining issues with nipping and rough play.

Upon completing Level 3 Puppy Training, your puppy should be at least seven months old and ready to pass the ten areas tested by the AKC for the Canine Good Citizen Test. It will also be ready to start public access training, moving closer to becoming a well-behaved, reliable companion in all environments.

  • Train my doodle exceeded all my expectations. Karina worked one on one with my 6 month old doodle and immediately he picked up on her queues. She works with the family to facilitate the training transition. Yes, she basically trained me and helped me get rid of my bad habits too. I was able to take what she did and use it with our 7 yr old dog and it worked. I can’t say enough about her or the training process she uses.

  • I selected Karina after looking at several trainers and breeders because of the small size of her operation and i could tell that she genuinely cared for these puppies! My pup has been traveling with me all over the east coast for work and he has been very well behaved. This is a testament to the work Karina poured into him early on to ensure he was well exposed to the world. Loud noises, small children, other dogs, he’s doing very good with all! Can’t thank Karina enough for her care and support throughout this process. Highly recommend working with her!

  • Karina is a special human raising special puppies. We are experienced dog owners who chose to work with her because of her knowledge and dedication to her work. We left prepared with an amazing puppy who was well on his way to being a respectful and obedient companion, it was a shortcut to fun a play without having to figure everything out alone. I wish we had met her before.

  • Karina was amazing with my new baby doodle. I was searching for a puppy trainer that I felt was trust worthy, and I knew my pup was in good hands from the first time I spoke to her. She was patient in discussing my goals and setting expectations. Kobe came back home after 2 weeks a much calmer pup, listened to basic commands, and was on a potty schedule that was manageable. She communicated consistently throughout the two weeks, sent videos and texts with progress updates. I would highly reccomend Karina to anyone who is looking for a caring trainer in a home setting, makes it easier to transition back home as we can establish a similar schedule for consistency with a new pup.
